how i help women who hate photos of themselves feel comfortable on camera

Raise your hand if you’ve ever said, “I hate photos of myself.” That’s basically every client I’ve ever had.

It’s almost a ritual at this point. Women walk into the studio, sit down for makeup, and at some stage whisper, “Just so you know, I’m the most unphotogenic person alive.” They say it like it’s a warning label, as if I might pack up my camera and send them home. The truth? You’re not unphotogenic. You’re just used to seeing yourself in bad lighting, bad angles, and with zero guidance. And no one looks their best under those conditions.

That’s where my job comes in. My entire process is about shifting how you see yourself on camera. Lighting is a huge part of it – soft, flattering setups that celebrate instead of exaggerate. Posing is another. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands (honestly, no one ever does). I’ll guide you through every position, step by step, so you’re never left standing there feeling awkward.

And then there’s humor. Boudoir can sound intimidating, but once the music is on and we’re laughing, it stops being scary. I crack jokes, I demonstrate poses in the most ungraceful ways possible, and pretty soon you forget there’s even a camera involved. You relax, and that’s when the magic happens.

Comfort is always the priority. Not forced sexiness, not stiff poses, not pretending to be someone you’re not. Just you, feeling at ease enough to let the confidence peek through. And when you finally see the photos, the same women who swore they hated every picture ever taken of them usually say, “I can’t believe that’s me.”

If you hate photos of yourself, you might just love these.
