How to Prepare for Your First Boudoir Session

How to Prepare for Your First Boudoir Session

Stepping into a boudoir session for the first time can feel exciting, empowering, and maybe even a little nerve-wracking. But with the right preparation, you can walk in with confidence and leave feeling like the stunning, radiant person you are. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare for your first boudoir session and make the most of this transformative experience.

1. Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Amazing

Your wardrobe sets the tone for your session, so pick pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable. Here are some tips:

Lingerie Styles: Select bras, panties, bodysuits, or slips that highlight your favorite features.
Colors That Pop: Rich jewel tones, classic black, or soft neutrals often photograph beautifully.
Something Personal: Bring an item that has sentimental value, like your partner’s shirt or a favorite accessory.

Remember, it’s not about size or trends—it’s about what makes you feel like your most fabulous self.

2. Take Care of Your Skin

Healthy, glowing skin is a great canvas for your photos. Here’s how to prep:

Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session.
Moisturize: Use a gentle lotion to keep your skin soft and smooth.
Exfoliate: A light exfoliation a day or two before can help your skin look fresh.
Avoid New Products: Stick to products you know to avoid any unexpected reactions.

3. Hair

Our sessions include make up and hair is optional. I prefer a loose, more relaxed and ‘layed-in’ hairstyle over something too styled up.

Wash your hair 2 days before the session so it is not too soft and fly-away-ey

5. Pack the Essentials

Before your session, make a checklist to ensure you have everything you need:

Your selected outfits and accessories
Shoes (like heels or barefoot options)
A robe for make up
Touch-up makeup or hair tools, if needed

6. Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Rest is the secret ingredient to looking and feeling your best. Aim for a full night’s sleep before your session to ensure you feel energized and refreshed.

7. Relax and Trust the Process

Nerves are natural, but remember: my job is to make you feel comfortable and bring out your best. Trust our expertise, and focus on enjoying the experience. Boudoir photography is about celebrating you and all that makes you unique.

8. Embrace the Moment

A boudoir session is more than just a photo shoot; it’s a chance to reconnect with yourself, embrace your confidence, and create stunning memories. Be present, have fun, and let your inner radiance shine.
